I just had to say thank you to all the people who have been visiting my blog and reading my poems. ![]()
I have been very lazy and not written anything for a long while.
I moved home and country about 5 months ago and have had all my time and energy taken up in setting up a new home in a totally new and very exciting culture.
I have also been desperately trying to learn a new language and failing abysmally ![]()
I am currently getting over my first illness in a foreign country.
Its only a cold and I caught it whilst visiting relatives back in the UK ![]()
Oh the relief to discover I could still get hold of Vick Vapour rub...
Once the cold is over I will add a few poems - I can feel my funny muscle starting to itch again so there has got to be stuff to write.
I have a feeling the ex pat population over here might be a rich vein to tap into ![]()
in the meantime here's one I prepared earlier - hope you like it
Ode to a Greek Taxi Driver
The peace and quiet is very nice,
With echoes from the past,
But what eclipses all of this is driving very fast
On narrow roads with eyes tight shut,
Trying not to weep,
at views of beauty laid before them.
I'd rather be a sheep
Standing still, relaxed serene
Feet firmly where they've always been,
Not hurtling round the hair pin bends,
And trusting in safe journey's end.
