Please tell me what you think?

I am wondering if it would be worth setting up a Cafe press shop to sell my poetry and maybe put together a print on demand book?

I have contact with a brilliant cartoonist who would be great at doing illustrations for around 70 euros per illustration and so a book or calendar would be quite feasible.

I also wondered about greetings cards and postcards.

What do you think?

Which poems should I get illustrated if I do go for it?

Would people be interested in signed copies of books as gifts etc

Are there any poems you think would be good in cards or on t-shirts?

I really could do with some feedback here - so if you would be kind enough to let me know via the comment section, I would be grateful.

Any idea to make money is good but what I think you need to think is to establish whether the timing is good for you idea and whether you can really target right customers for your product/service. Who is going to write the poem, what font is it going to be printed and etc. set your proper business plan and calculate the risks well before investing any time and money would be my comment and finally wish you all the best and luck!

  I already get more than 1000 visitors a month to this blog and my post was to ask them to comment about whether they might be interested in seeing this service available to them.

  Um, bit confused by this. Have you actually read my blog at all? The description is fairly self explanatory and it did say in the first line of my post 'to sell my poetry' - meaning MY poetry so that would be me writing it - in fact it is already written - hence this blog.

  OK I am sure you mean well but this is a bit patronising. I hardly think the choice of font is a major stumbling block - if I can write poetry,run a moderately successful poetry blog, set up a cafe press shop, liaise with a cartoonist and self publish a book by using online proprietary print on demand software - I would hope I am able to get my brain around choosing a font.

  I run a number of successful entrepreneurial activities online and I have NEVER set a proper business plan. I don't calculate risks either - because I don't take any. A few hundred euros on a few cartoons that would make great christmas gifts for relatives anyway is not exactly bankruptcy central.
  
  This post is to see if anyone out there would LIKE to have my poems available to them in card/book/poster/calendar form. I do not expect to make ANY money out of this - it is not a business it is simply another way to offer my poetry - if people want it.

  Thank you for your post - I am sorry if I sound a bit grouchy - it was genuinely nice of you to reply - can I ask you if you have ever read any of the poetry on my blog and if so which ones do you like and which ones would you personally like to see illustrated?

Have you thought about doing personalised verse? I do it quite successfully for wedding speeches, birthdays etc. I am just about to launch a website offering this. Small verses for greeting cards are good too!

  personalized verse is a good idea. Do you propose writing whole poems from scratch for people or 'insert name here' type poems?

    What I usually do is just write them from scratch. It makes it more personal. I get the person to give me lots of details about themselves or the person they want the poem for, and then just go from there really. I can give you some examples if you like? Although I guess you could build us some generic poems for say 30th 40th etc and just insert the name if you wanted to.

I just found your blog and wanted to share my experience, I just put out a poetry book, much like what you're thinking of doing. It's been an interesting process, one I'm happy with, but anything to do with writing, is a bit daunting, I think my nature as an writer interferes with my success more then anything else.

Anyway. I wanted to say, if you want to reach out. I'll be more then happy to share with you a bit of my journey.
