Sometimes the world stands on its head

You would think that the seas would slosh about
that it would at the very least give people a bit of a headache

but everything carries on like normal instead.


Sometimes the world starts spinning the other way

You would think that physics demands that buildings would topple
that at some point someone would notice this phenomenon

but everyone just carries on with their day.


When a single dog howls its fears to the moon
and the birds just stop in silent hush
it happens again, and again and again

but the people don't notice it in their rush.

Sometimes the world stands on its head
Sometimes the world spins the other way
Sometimes funny is simply sad

and all we can do is play.
