How to survive the credit crunch.

Switch that smile back from a frown,

don't let troubles grind you down,

There's something wonderful waiting for you

life is great, would I lie to you?

So when you're in the vice of the credit crunch,

smile to yourself and pack a cheap lunch,

Eat less, walk more, to help the pinch you're in,

you might be poor but at least you'll soon be thin.

Sack the cleaner, scrub the floors,

make the kids do their chores,

dig the garden, grow some food

the exercise will do you good.

Lost your job?  Don't commit suicide,

take a deep breath and go outside,

there'll be something  or someone you hold dear,

it's time to be thankful, not time for tears.

You may be homeless, poor and afraid

but it's time to show the stuff from which you're made.

Don't fall to pieces although that's how you feel,

grit your teeth, get strong as steel.

When you survive, you learn to be tough,

and find that very little can be enough.

Help other people, let them help you,

if we band together we can all get through.

So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

let's face it together and don't give in to fear.

It's a bit simplistic and I know lots of people have it really really bad this year, but I do believe that no matter how bad things get, there is always some hope, and keeping your faith that things will improve is always helpful.  Life is an adventure and sometimes adventures are scary and painful, but for most people they are worth struggling through.  If money is the only problem in someone's life then they haven't really got a serious problem in my opinion.  Stuff is just stuff.  Shelter, food, companionship, health and a clear conscience - those are my wishes for everyone this year, that's all we need - the rest is just frills.

Sorry for being a bit 'preachy' - I think the time of year is getting to me.
