Eat well at Christmas without gaining weight.
Christmas is coming
& we usually get fat
but it is it really necessary
to give in to that?
According to the experts
who give so much advice
we should not gain any weight
if we refuse anything nice.
Now I agree that if we're clever
we need not gain lots of weight
but that doesn't mean refusing
all the foods we really rate.
Just maybe there's a way
to make things very nice
yet not high in calories fat & starch
but high in taste & spice.
Did you know that lovely gravy
can be a virtuous treat
if made with giblets neck and veg
not the fat around the meat?
Put them with herbs and stock
and let it simmer away for hours
then remove the neck add a splash of wine
and thicken by liquidising not with flour.
It actually tastes wonderful
and makes a meal complete
and there's no reason for the food police
to tut at what you eat.
There's no real need for roasted spuds
to eat at Xmas dinner
save them as a treat to turn Boxing Day lunch
into a sure fire winner.
Christmas cake versus pudding?
Not everyone can agree
but don't stuff them down at dinner time
have them instead when you've room for tea.
So if you spread your treats out
you spread out all the tastes
and get to eat all the things you love
without a spreading waist.
