The Unction Compunction Function.

There are pieces in the papers today
about folk doing nothing at all
Two are famous actors, one a celebrity chef
and one plays a mean football
another is a comedian
who I'd never heard of before
though I recognised his face
when I Googled him to find out more.

I've never known of people
have articles written for less
even when Jordan had pointless puff written
to get things off her chest
there were clearly obvious reasons
to explain her place in the Sun
but for this little gaggle of people
there's no hint - not a one.

I know folk who would love a tabloid spread
and they must be feeling bitter
for one guy got an article just to say
he hadn't been lately on Twitter!
Another was written about in great length
'cos he hadn't much mentioned his wife
in a program that went out on prime time TV
entitled, "My Secret Life."

It seems the world of PR
is standing on its head
Down is up and up is down
and nobody's ever read
more articles about sweet F.A.
by journos with no compunction
but to fill the papers with stuff that seems
at odds with a newspaper's function.
